1. The Star
try to measure the beauty of stars
then count them all above your head
and send your complaints
to each and every one
that they’re too far
and let you feel
too small
to reach what you desire
2. The Coffin
time to die, my
dear, time to go,
no one is going
to invite me for tea,
to listen to my
thoughts, to laugh at my jokes,
the time is up,
down here,
too low to reach
for another year
3. The Scissors
your hair on my pillow
is getting colder and colder
sharp scissors of necessity
cut your time to spend with me
you’re leaving but
you’ll be back here
you must be back here!
/longing me…
4. A Piece of
Cake
what brought me
here to you
was a piece of
cake,
a sweet monsoon
that let me fly
and find my way
straight to your door;
what I left
there
was a cold glass
prison
I had to break
to set myself
free
and taste the
flavour of being
that close to
you
at last
5. The Arch of Knowledge
the closed door wait to get opened
times have changed - paper's archaic now
the rustling of pages turned thrills no one but me
the book-eaters are extinct - shall we find our
shelter
in the zoo-library?
a special kind of prison for the ones
who still love reading?
6. The Ladder
you dreamt about
a ladder once
it lead you
through the clouds
you climbed it
fast, so fast upwards,
though
motionless in bed,
until you
reached your dream.
you dreamt about
a ladder once
7. The Instrument
play a song for me,
staccato of my heart,
I’ll let you rattle my hands
and blow the trumpet like hell.
so inhale the poison of music
and stop bothering me
with your ridiculous worries
8. The Well
the tunnel of
life
filled with
ideas
that come from
the depths
of the inner
you;
and when you
think hard
you're never
satisfied
with what comes
out;
and when you
lack thoughts
you hate
yourself
for creating the
desert
and
for burning
the oases of
hope
with no fear
9. The Clock
tick-tock-tick-tock
the hours knock
at the shut door;
there’s more and more
of love in store
when we are here;
time won’t come near
for when we’re close
into poetry turns the prose
of passing life
10. The Walking
Stick
upstairs in the
canteen
in big mugs they
served
success and luck
for you not to
spill
who rushed, got
enough -
you were the one
before the last.
the handrail was
a wing
of somebody’s
hope.
11. The Bag
all my bags are packed
I'm ready to go
d'you think it's easy
to cross out the past
with two ruthless black lines?
it is, indeed, but
only if the lines
spread their arms and
the railway invites you
for a joyride to
some place
you'd dreamt to see
12. The Feather
came from a
place nowhere
high up in the
sky
danced along the
roofs
of my home town,
then visited you
'cause I sent it
there
to eavesdrop on
a word or two:
do you care for
me?
d’you love me
there
more than I do?
13. The Key
where's my key to eternal happiness?
shall I die to learn it was hidden inside me?
will you help me look for it,
or you'll wait till the day it is too late
to find it so close to you?
14. The Paint
the Vanity
painted
a portrait of
me;
colourful
impression
like from
WhoIsWho:
a celebrity
known
to no-one but
you,
a beauty so
concealed
that mirrors of
mine won’t agree,
the genius of
creating
the craziest muddle
ever...
still a VIP,
NumberOne on
your list,
though the world
is silent,
not really
noticing me
15. The Domino
let’s play the game,
let’s try to be cool
about being lovers and friends
in the vast land of fools;
what they regard insane
is our daily bread,
what’s sick and out of tune
makes our symphony of triumph
over the mean and average -
let’s leave the pieces random
who needs the logic now?
let’s make it anyway,
this path is not
“no through”
16. The Envelope
send me your
least important thought
and I will sing
a joyful song
give me one
word, the shortest one
and I will dance
until the dawn
write me a
letter of hundred words
unless you don’t
want me
dressed in
winter craven
waiting for you
17. The Leaf
my letters like leaves keep circling in the wind
the un-read and the un-sent words
knock at my window like ravens
reminding me of the un-written ones
18. The Razor
sharp edges and
contrasts
you like it this
way
red lipstick and
stunning dress
walking along
with your deadly sins
no feelings,
emotions-
who would need
that crap?
black and white
in judging
everyone around
yet so grey and
lonely
sometimes
19. The Labyrinth
getting lost within your very soul -
dark as it may be
you’ve never been that far -
where’s your guide now?
where is your map?
just close your eyes and
let me be your light
let’s burn this place
let’s build another you
out of the ashes remaining - -
it’s the chasm I’d already been to
20. The Case
“all that you
can’t leave behind”
is the burden
you carry from this to other towns
the world’s on
your back and in your mind
you shape it,
you see it and you can blow it out
but what’s
really valid exists within you
you carry its
life in your hands
don’t crush it with
a careless move
‘cause you’ve
just got it -
lucky you
21. The Route
wherever I may put my feet on the realistic map
of this or some other of worlds I'd visit
I will look for your footmarks on the sand or snow;
even if the trip is to happen only in my mind
I will go and won't turn around to see
the bridges burning
22. The Cards
out of the sand
your house was raised
with walls damn
white and red high roof
when you are to
move in
you feel
insecure
you've made it
from cards
23. The Mountains
up there you climb
to reach your true self
with every step you pray
you convince yourself
that your mind is the master
telling your resistant feet
to make one more careful step,
to take a walk on one more back
of this weird giant brown animal
24. The
Broomstick
watch out! the
enemy's at the gates to your heart-
something
devours your hopes and feelings,
poisons your
blood with mind-narrowing routines,
telling you it's
the best you deserve
believe it or
not-
your enemy's
within you -
it's the voice
called conscience
25. The Comb
shape your sculpture, Mr Butcher
write your poem, Mr Banker
play your song now, Mr Barber
paint it lovely, Mr Baker
kick that damn ball, Mr Byron!
